The feeling among Brisbane Lions supporters that the club has unearthed at least one youngster to fill the numerous holes on their list, defender Harris Andrews, was underscored on Monday when the 18-year-old earned a Rising Star award nomination.

Having made his debut in round three, the 200-centimetre athlete has quietly developed his game this year but made his biggest impression last Saturday when he stood up to the flood of inside-50s Geelong created in their 56-point drubbing of the Lions at Simonds Stadium.
Andrews was one of his team's best players, producing a career-best 22 disposals and 12 marks and displaying poise under pressure beyond his years.
With 14 games under his belt, Harris ranks second – among those eligible for the Rising Star award – in contested marks and No.1 in "one percenters".
"For a young kid thrown into the fire, he has been cool under pressure and shown us he's going to be a player of the future for our footy club," coach Justin Leppitsch said.
Andrews is the first player from the Queensland Academy to be nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
