Blues president Mark LoGiudice said the club was well prepared for the off-season under the leadership of football boss Andrew McKay and list manager Stephen Silvagni, and was also prepared to wait for the right man.

Simon Lloyd (Fremantle), Stewart Dew (Sydney) and Brendon Bolton (Hawthorn) are among the assistant coaches to have been linked  to the Carlton job.

All three are working for finals-bound clubs and would not be available to start work until their team fell out of the premiership race.

"We'll pick the right person for the job and if that means they're playing finals then we'll wait for the right person to finish and come over to the club at the appropriate time," LoGiudice said.

"That process would involve a new coach, but that's run by Andy McKay and Stephen Silvagni and they'll work through the trades and drafts and things like that."

LoGiudice denied reports the Blues had culled their search of prospective coaches on Monday, saying "the last two haven't been decided. I'm not sure we're down to the last 10 yet."

However, he reiterated that stand-in coach John Barker would be judged on much more than the club's poor fortnight, which has involved heavy losses to North Melbourne and Hawthorn.

"I think we need to look at more than just the one game. There's a lot more to a coach these days than just judging a person on one particular game," LoGiudice said, as the team walked Lygon Street to kick off the AFL's multicultural round.

"We've got a committee in place. I'm not going to go into detail about where the process is at but we've got a process in place and a committee in place and I'm sure they'll recommend the right person in due course.

"I think the most important thing is that the decision is made with the proper due diligence, that the committee does the proper due diligence and when they're ready to recommend the right person, they will. Hopefully that's late August.

"Losing's not easy to watch but we've got a lot of young players on our list who have got to grow. They're doing quite well on the field as individuals but we just need to come together as a team, and as we all grow we'll get better on the field," LoGiudice said.
