The AFL tribunal will sit on Tuesday night, to hear Hawthorn's Brian Lake contest a fine he was offered for rough conduct, but it will not have any direct impact on this weekend's matches, given key players Johnson, Fremantle's Zac Dawson and North Melbourne's Michael Firrito all accepted penalties.

Dawson's dangerous elbow to the face of GWS star Jeremy Cameron will mean Fremantle will be without another of its key defenders for matches against St Kilda, this Sunday at Etihad Stadium, and then the Derby against West Coast the week after.

It was Dawson's first game for the season on the weekend, and the suspension means he will have at most three games to prepare his body for finals if and when he returns to the Dockers' line-up.

Firrito, meanwhile, will miss North Melbourne's game against Melbourne at the MCG after striking Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer in the head in a wayward spoiling attempt last Saturday night.

Johnson will now play his milestone match in a Saturday night blockbuster against Hawthorn next round, the result of his high striking action towards former teammate Allen Christensen – who requested a trade to Brisbane this season – while both players were wrestling on the ground in an incident from last Saturday's Lions-Cats game at Simonds Stadium.

Lake is hoping to be cleared of a $1500 sanction for allegedly pushing Richmond forward Ty Vickery into the fence during Friday night's game at the MCG.

The match review panel assessed the incident as careless conduct with low impact to the body.

Successfully contesting the charge means the incident won't count against Lake's record come September when the Hawks ramp up their pursuit for a premiership three-peat.
