The move is part of NHW’s push to improve community safety in an effort to keep people safe during the festivities for Mount Isa Mines Rotary Week.
Safety whistles will be handed in addition to the coasters, to be used to attract attention if a person finds themselves in a bad situation and needs help.
They will also double as a key ring allowing users to have them on them at all times.
Tag-A-Tot will also be available at the rodeo and been proven to work with a parent needing help to be reunited with their lost child at the 2015 Mount Isa Show.
Neighbourhood Watch Mount Isa President, Zyra Knight, said the innovative is about improving safety within the Mount Isa community.
“We are hoping that these coasters deter potential attackers as we plan on making them readily available.”
“We hope to eventually have these available at all of our pubs and clubs on a regular basis, beyond the Rodeo weekend.”
“The whistles are great and portable, and can be used in many situations, for instance by walkers who find themselves lost or by people exercising alone and wanting to attract attention.”
“Of course we hope that they’re never needed but if they can help someone in a time of need, we will be happy.”
NHW will have a Tag-A-Tot stand starting with the Mardi Gras on Friday night.
Fero Strata sponsored “Tag-A-Tot” for this year’s rodeo.
Friday night. Tag-A-Tot registers a child and takes their parents contact details, so in the event they are separated, the child can be reunited with their parents.
Mrs Knight said Tag-A-Tot does work and is a great way to add an extra layer of security at busy events.
“We did actually have to use the system at the Mount Isa Show this year to reunite a lost child with their parents,” she said.
It is just another way that we can help the community during these big and busy events, there is an easy way of reuniting separated Tots with their family and quickly.”
Tag-A-Tot is a free service that allows families to register as my children as they need, throughout the weekend.
