The biggest critique from most about the Labor government is its slow pace to introduce economic-boosting policies and decisions.
The KAP is also losing its patience.
It wants action on key issues and demands set out by the party as the sweetener for its services as a supporter in the precariously placed government.
The KAP believes it’s time to cash in on its support for the Palaszczuk minority government with a list of demands - mostly focused on benefiting the bush.
There is now a 90-day deadline on the government to deliver with state member for Mount Isa Robbie Katter putting pressure on fast-tracking the fledgling party’s key policies.
Labor Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk hasn’t appeared overly concerned at the prospect of losing the support of the KAP members (Mr Katter and state member for Dalrymple Shane Knuth), so it will be worth monitoring her reaction once the list of demands is formally put on the table.
If the KAP withdraws its support, the Palaszczuk government would have to rely on former Labor MP Billy Gordon.
The KAP has been working hard to secure the support of Mr Gordon since he left the Labor government after his criminal record was revealed.
It would be in Mr Gordon’s interest to join the KAP to ensure the government he was sensationally exiled from keeps its promise about boosting regional communities.
His electorate of Cook also needs a government that honours its pre-election promise of focusing on more than just South East Queensland.
