​Former West Coast Eagles champion Daniel Kerr who fronted a Perth court over allegedly breaching a violence restraining order against his ex-partner had his case adjourned again.

Magistrate Steven Heath said on Monday morning Daniel Kerr would have to make a plea on September 21.

Kerr said outside court, "things were going good".

"These legal issues aren't as severe as when I got in trouble," he said.

"They are affecting me a fair bit... I still can't see my kids, because of bail conditions.

"So I'm going to go to the Family Court and get a few things sorted out there and hopefully come back with a few more documents and get those bail conditions dropped so I can see my little girls."

Daniel Kerr previously had the case adjourned in Perth's Magistrate's court to seek legal advice on August 5.

His lawyer asked the court for an amendment to the VRO that would allow Kerr to see his children but magistrate Elizabeth Woods said it would have to be done through the Family Court.

The two-time Brownlow Medal runner-up appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on July 8 for an alleged violence restraining order breach, but had his court case adjourned to seek alternative counsel to represent him.

Kerr's lawyer told the judge he had a conflict of interest in the case and Kerr needed to find time to seek alternative counsel.

Police laid four charges, claiming Kerr contacted his ex via text messages.

Last month Kerr was spared an immediate jail term for threatening to set two of his friends on fire. He was given an eight-month prison term, suspended for 12 months, and a 12 month community-based order.

If he reoffends during that time he will go to prison. He was also ordered to pay $79 court costs.

Kerr, 32, went straight from high school into playing professional football, but a succession of injuries ended his 13-year career in 2013.

In January reports emerged that Kerr's three-year marriage to the mother of his two daughters, Natasha Pozo, was over.
