The Northern Territory-based side advances to the grand final against Tigers after defeating Rovers 13.7 85 – 11.11 77 at Legend Oval.
Mount Isa AFL competition leading goal kicker Jameson Billy showed his value of the individual accolade kicking a game-high of five goals for Young Guns.
Forward Steven Andrews notched three goals and two behinds as Rovers’ top performer in front of the posts.
The Young Guns were dominated by Rovers in the early stages with both teams struggling to clear the ball cleanly from the ruck.
Billy kicked the opening six-pointer of the match before a great contest between the two number eight jerseys, Rovers’ Matt Clark and Lake Nash’s Talsa Billy, in the centre circle slowed the points down on the scoreboard.
Nathan Ross showed great strength to wriggle out of the grasp of two Rovers players to kick a goal out of nothing to give Young Guns a two-goal lead at quarter time.
Rovers instantly replied from the first changeover kicking two goals in as many minutes through Tom Cook and Justin Evans.
Lake Nash fought back well with two of their own goals through Craig Philomac and Aston Chungaloo.
From then until half-time it was all Young Guns, who kicked five unanswered goals with a 32-point lead at the halfway mark.
The second half comeback was well and truly on after a triple set of third quarter goals to the Nashies one set the contest up for a blockbuster finish.
The Rovers started the last term as they did with the third scoring three consecutive goals but a snap kick from Young Guns’ Chungaloo out of nowhere gave the momentum back to Lake Nash.
Two more goals from Talsa Billy and Anthony Teague ruled out any hope of a dramatic upset despite Rovers kicking two late consolation goals.
Young Guns coach Rohan Webb said he was pleased that his season isn’t over yet.
“It’s another week of coaching,” Webb said.
“It feels very good but we have one more to go. When we work so hard for it and get rewarded, it feels great.”
