The average Mount Isa rainfall for September was 6.5 millimetres according to local Bureau of Meteorology field office manager Les Lever.
It could only take one good burst of rain to go above the average.
“Our rainfall in September is still fairly low,” Mr Lever said.
It seems unlikely that Mount Isa will break its record for rainfall in September.
Its highest recorded rainfall for the first month of Spring was 68.6 mm in 1978.
Mr Lever said the Spring months will bring increases; more cloud cover and a higher average rainfall.
Average temperature has increased now that Spring has arrived by several degrees.
The average temperature for August was 27.3 Celsius but is expected to increase by several degrees in September.
Mr Lever said September’s average temperature was 31.3 Celcius, October’s was 34.7, and November’s 36.5.
