The 22-year-old finally made his stamp on the professional circuit at the Alice Springs two-day event in what he described as a career highlight.
“Definitely (a career highlight),” Lincoln said.
“It’s the best finish I’ve ever had. I got a medal, a trophy, and a bit of prize money.”
The Winton-born quad bike rider only had his first year of professional racing in 2013 but now is having serious thoughts on making a career out of what started out as a hobby.
“I’m hoping to go to America at the end of next year. That would be good. I just want to try and make it big and get my name out there.”
The Mount Isa Dirt Bike clubman said racing conditions were ideal but the track was a bit dustier than he is used to.
“There’s about 20 riders coming into one little corner together. It was very dusty down there.”
Lincoln placed third and fourth on the first day in the opening two heats of the championships.
On Sunday Lincoln lifted his game placing in second position twice followed by third place in the final heat before notching the championship runner-up silverware.
Considering his lack of fitness, Lincoln was more than pleased with his achievement.
“It’s hard work and I just lacked a bit of fitness. Some of the other riders have personal trainers but I’m just training by myself.”
Cody’s father Shane reiterated how well his son had done in Alice Springs in comparison to his competition.
“Some of these top riders rock up with road trains as their setups and have mechanics,” Mr Lincoln said.
“We’ve got a trailer and car. But obviously that doesn’t make any difference (on results).”
