It is unknown if Treloar will nominate a preferred club but it is understood Collingwood is the favourite to sign him.

Richmond is also known to be seriously interested and in the mix, with Tigers officials having had several discussions with Blucher.

Buckley confirmed on Monday night the Pies had spoken to Treloar's management but claimed he did not know of any official decision to nominate the Pies as his club of choice.

"We've been in conversations with his management and we're keen to further those conversations once he's made his decision on whether he's staying or not," Buckley said on Fox Footy's AFL360.

Treloar has been a key recruiting target for opposition clubs since putting contract negotiations with the Giants on hold until the end of the season.

Carlton has also been linked to the exciting ball-winner.

In his last public comments about the Treloar situation, Giants coach Leon Cameron sounded more hopeful than confident of keeping the former priority selection.

"He always stated that he wanted to [leave] it to the end of the season. I understand the averages of the ones [who do that] are probably eight out of 10 end up moving," the coach said after Sunday's final-round loss to Melbourne.

"But there is also the Travis Cloke scenario where there was speculation he would move, but he signed again [with Collingwood]."

The Giants will expect at least one first-round draft pick in any deal for the talented midfielder who has played 79 games over four seasons at the expansion club.
