Blicavs' commitment comes hot on the heels those of Steven Motlop, Andrew Mackie and Jake Kolodjashnij, who all penned new deals with the Cats in the past week.

The 24-year-old former steeplechaser had a breakout season this year as a ruckman who doubled as a midfielder once the ball hit the ground.

He led the club for hitouts and tackles this season while also averaging 18 touches a game and captain Joel Selwood was the only Cat who had more contested possessions than him.

"It's exciting," he told Geelong's website.

"I'm very excited to have signed with the football club. It's something I'm very happy with.

"Other players have been signing throughout the whole year, and to see so many guys commit to the club shows that there's a lot of trust there.

"Everyone's on board to see the club succeed."

Blicavs has missed just five games since debuting in 2013 for a career total of 66 in what has been a remarkable transformation for the one-time Olympics hopeful who played hardly any competitive football before joining Geelong.

"In my first year playing in the AFL I probably couldn't quite believe it was happening," he said.

"I was a bit star-struck by some of my teammates.

"But now I look at myself as just another footballer who is trying to make his club a better place and his team a better team.

"I'm very proud with what I've achieved so far, but now I want to help bring success to the club."

Blicavs was originally selected by Geelong with pick No.54 in the 2012 rookie draft.
