Dame Quentin led the investigative taskforce that resulted in the Not Now Not Ever report, which examined how soaring rates of domestic violence in Queensland should be tackled.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk earlier this year adopted all 140 recommendations made in the report and on Sunday announced that Australia's former Governor General would lead the committee that will implement them.

"We have had a gravely disturbing, deeply distressing week, where not just in Queensland but right across our country the horror of family violence has been driven home in the most serious way," Dame Quentin said.

"I'm very pleased the government will be fast tracking our taskforce report ... since these events of the last week it has become an urgent matter, an emergency, to get on with the job as fast as we can to do everything we can to ensure we eliminate family violence."

Ms Palaszczuk echoed Dame Quentin's comments that domestic violence was a scourge affecting the entire country and urged Prime Minister Tony Abbott to support Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's push for a crisis summit.

"This is not just a Queensland issue, this is a national issue, we have got bi-partisan support in Queensland, let's have bi-partisan support nationally," she said. 

"This is a wake-up call not just for Queensland but for the nation. Let's have this summit."

Ms Palaszczuk announced on Sunday a number of measures from the Bryce report had been fast-tracked in the wake of Queensland's horror week of alleged domestic homicide, which follows the establishment of a specialised domestic violence court at Southport Magistrates Court earlier in the year.

Among the fast-tracked measures are the rollout of 300 body cameras for Gold Coast police, priority attention for people who report domestic violence at police stations and mandatory quality checks by supervisors on requests for domestic violence orders.

The announcement comes after mothers Tara Brown, 24, and Karina Lock, 49, lost their lives in violent, public assaults, allegedly at the hands of their ex-partners and Sidney Playford, 6, was allegedly murdered by her father, Stephen.

Another man was also charged with the attempted murder of his ex-partner after chasing her down a suburban Brisbane street with a machete and on Sunday, a 31-year-old woman was charged with the attempted murder of her partner after running him down with her car.

Ms Palaszczuk said the events had fuelled the need to implement the report's recommendations as quickly as possible.

"We have been fast tracking them since my government came to office, we acted quickly to make sure we had measures announced in our budget, that specialised domestic violence court is up and running as we speak and now we are moving on the recommendations," she said. 

"This is a priority for my government, we're going to make sure we act and act as quickly as possible."

Ms Palaszczuk said she had told those working in the sector, including police and support services, that any extra resources required to tackle the scourge would be provided.

Queensland's communities, women and youth minister Shannon Fentiman said much of the change required with changing community attitudes to domestic violence.

"There is something seriously wrong with a culture that leads to this violence against women and their children but we need every good man to stand up and step up and stamp out this violence," she said.

"Already this year 20 Queensland women have died and countless more have suffered violence at the hands of a partner or former partner," she said.

"Last week was truly harrowing but it can be a turning point."
