The Sydney Roosters players involved in NSW's nightmare at Suncorp Stadium earlier this year insist they hold no fear about returning on Friday night to the scene of their devastating defeat.

The Roosters had three players involved in the humiliating series  defeat at the hands of the Maroons on July 8, surrendering the Origin shield in the 52-6 loss at Suncorp Stadium.

For Mitchell Pearce, Michael Jennings and Boyd Cordner, this Friday night's preliminary final against the Brisbane Broncos will mark their return to the cauldron that is the old Lang Park.

While they say the memories will haunt them for the rest of their careers, they insist they aren't scarred by the daunting prospect of playing in front of 50,000 vocal Queenslanders.

"It's not a good memory," Jennings said.

"But that's all left behind now. There's no hangover or scars from that game. Once I left the field, that's all left behind. it was disappointing at the time though.

"When you're playing Queensland up there, they just grow another leg with the whole crowd behind them cheering them on. It is a hostile environment and we are preparing for that. We all know what we're about to walk into."

Cordner, who came off the bench in each of the three matches in the series insists there is a genuine sense of excitement about playing at Suncorp Stadium.

The venue in the heart of Brisbane's CBD is considered by many as the premier rugby league stadium in the world.

Cordner says he holds no fears playing at Suncorp Stadium, however admitted he was desperate to make amends for the stunning loss in game three of the Origin series.

"As a player you look forward to playing up there just because it's such a good ground and good atmosphere," Cordner said.

"But I suppose it's a bit different when you have 50,000 people booing you rather than cheering you. Besides that, I reckon it's a great venue to play at and I'm actually looking forward to it.

"I don't really like to reflect on that night, it wasn't a good night. We weren't expecting that at all. We prepared well all week and we were ready for that game. It was just one of those nights where nothing went right for us. It was pretty hard to take. The harder we tried, the worse it got for us. It was a night to forget, definitely looking forward to making amends and getting a win up there on Friday would be good."

The Broncos will go into the preliminary final as underdogs despite earning the week off, but Jennings is well aware the Roosters can't afford to surrender a lead given the role the crowd will play in motivating Brisbane.

"It's a hard place to come back," Jennings said.

"But it's not just that, it's finals footy so we don't want to have too many points put on us. You need to be ready to defend well and limit their opportunities."

Cordner insists the scars of Origin won't be a factor, even though it took a while to get over.

"It was harder to get over especially because it hurt so much emotionally, rather than physically," Cordner said.

"Getting back into the grind here at the Roosters, there was a good buzz around here so it made it a little bit easier to get over. We'll be going up there pretty confident and hopefully keep the crowd out of it."
