Aim 4 the Future Job Market committee has been formed by a number of local Mount Isa organisations for Year 12 graduates this year to meet there future employers and, it is hoped, secure a job for 2016.
The job market, to be held at Buchanan Park entertainment centre on Friday, November 6, at 11am, will showcase available job positions rather than career options.
A number of Year 12 students across Mount Isa will be selected by their own schools to attend the event.
There will also be a session during the evening for students and parents to attend if they did not have the opportunity during the day.
Skill360 apprenticeship consultant Kimberley Cunningham said the job market would give students the opportunity to see what jobs were available.
Ms Cunningham said they were seeking as many local employees as they could to participate in the day.
There were about 15 business and organisations registered already, with prospects of another 10 to 15 to join.
So far there is a variety of industries such as retail, trade, agriculture, electrical, engineering, mechanical, food industries and supermarkets to give students a range of work options for their future.
Ms Cunningham said the job market committee was made up of private, government and school organisations.
“All four schools are involved and are bringing their selection of students, along with an expectation of more than 100 students,” she said.
“There is an out-of-school session, for students who are not selected, to go along and meet the employers and give them the opportunity to get a job.”
Employers are invited to showcase their future career opportunities if they are not available to be there on a board on the day.
Ms Cunningham said there would be opportunities for interviews on the spot if employers would like to interview potential employees.
“There are opportunities for mock interviews, for real interviews to take place there and then,” she said.
“Rooms are available.
“Training organisers are also invited to attend to advertise Certificate 3.
“Sporting and non-for-profit organisations have also been invited to hold there own food stores.”
The Aim 4 the Future Job Market is 100 per cent not-for-profit and has been heavily reliant on in-kind donations from local businesses, as well as the council, to pay for the venue.
