It's not footy without a pie and sauce, washed down with an ice-cold beer. Or is it?
A new survey has revealed our true eating habits on football's greatest of days, grand final day.
It has also revealed a chasm between the food and drink choices of AFL fans and the game-day grub of their NRL counterparts.
Don't be alarmed, fans of the oval game are not choosing sushi rolls and salad wraps over classic fare, but AFL punters do like a more sophisticated alcoholic nip.
While the Sydney Swans and Hawks battled it out in the 2014 AFL grand final, the three most popular beers among fans were Carlton Draught, VB and Tooheys New.
Yet, AFL fans did not limit themselves to the amber ale.
Their spirits of choice included Smirnoff vodka, Johnny Walker whiskey and, believe it or not, gin.
Perhaps well-heeled Demon fans were washing down their woes with a negroni or martini as they escaped the football during their annual trip to the snow.
And maybe as a result of Carlton's Italian influence, or the superior quality of a slice in Melbourne, AFL fans had an appetite for pizza above anything else.
Burgers and wedges were their second and third culinary choices.
However, NRL fans who were watching the Rabbitohs dream run over the Bulldogs last year chose XXXX beer. After all, you can find the mid-strength brew on tap in the northern states.
Carlton Draught and VB were the second most popular beer choices.
Rugby league watchers also drank Smirnoff vodka and Johnny Walker whisky, but chose Bundaberg Rum over gin.
Maroon fans will be happy with that but perhaps the more refined tastes of the Manly "silvertails" did not come out in the study.
They chose the pub staples of a burger, or a schnitzel and chips to counter the effects of the alcohol consumed.
NRL fans also spent more money at the bar than their AFL counterparts.
They splashed an average of $143 each, while AFL fans each spent about $96.
The figures were compiled by mobile payments app Clipp, which looked at transactions at 600 venues across the country.
In Melbourne, AFL fans flocked to the Transport Bar in Federation Square, the Prahran Hotel and Young & Jacksons on Swanston Street to watch the final match on the big screen.
But NRL fans preferred the Bridge Hotel in Richmond, then Young & Jacksons and the Elsternwick Hotel.
This year, you can expect to find Eagles fans left in Perth at The Subiaco Hotel, The Brisbane Hotel and The Boulevard Hotel.
In Sydney, AFL punters will likely gather at the Courthouse Hotel, The London and Manly Wharf, while in Brisbane they will be found at The Fox Hotel, the Lions Springwood and the Australian National Hotel in Woolloongabba.
Come Sunday, NRL fans in Brisbane are set to gather at the Bronco's Leagues Club, The Fox Hotel and The Victory Hotel. Their Sydney counterparts will likely converge on the Manly Wharf, The Greens and Woolloomooloo's Woolly Bay Hotel.
This year, the hipster influence is expected to be felt among fans of both codes in all capital cities, with craft beer set to reign supreme.
"We're predicting that both AFL and NRL fans will choose craft beer over the major brewers," said Clipp co-founder Greg Taylor.
"Last year was Stone & Wood's year in terms of the grand final beer choice, but this year it looks like Young Henry's will be crowned champion."
What about this year's food of choice? Well, pass the Sliders.
The miniature burgers are set to be a favourite among punters right across Australia, according to Mr Taylor.
