“It’s an event where you do not want to be shy out there,” Jeffrey Rodgers said.
“You want to be very expressive and if you’re thinking ‘am I doing too much?’, well it is probably not quite enough.
“You want to be the wow factor of the night.”
Organisers hoped to see more than 3000 people watching the performances.
Six schools outside Mount Isa will be joining the mime performance competition with acts from Cloncurry, Richmond, Winton and the School of the Air.
Mr Rodgers said many schools across the region were drawn to the show because of the friendly competition.
“Performance friendly competition is something that is not really around in this area much.
“Getting to perform on stage for kids is something different.”
Gates open 5pm, with the show beginning two hours later.
Entry is $5 a person.
