Lawyer Dennis Lynch, who is representing Kyle’s family, told a pre-inquest hearing in Cairns it would be impossible to proceed with the inquest in November because he was waiting on phone records and witness statements.
The inquest is due to be held sometime next year.
Kyle was last seen with unrelated friend James Coleman on a hunting trip at Undilla Station in February 2014, about 60 kilometres from Camooweal. James was found dead in his home a few days later but Kyle’s body has never been found.
Kyle’s father Rob Coleman told The North West Star in August that his son was “certainly not a run-away”. He said there was no evidence to support reports to police that Kyle was later seen at a party in Mount Isa.
The last words Mr Coleman heard from his son were “talk to you later ‘ol fella” in a phone call that happened just before Kyle left Mount Isa.
