The exercise will run from 8am to 4pm and is closed to the public.
Police participating in the exercise will carry training weapons which contain simunition rounds (similar to paint rounds) and are incapable of firing real ammunition. However, occasional loud noises or bangs may be heard by people in the vicinity of Buchanan Park.
No officers participating in the exercise will use real firearms or ammunition.
The Buchanan Park complex will be closed to the public during the activity and some areas will also be taped off with police tape. There will be no road closures.
The Queensland Police Service regularly conducts exercises to give officers realistic scenario-based training and development to improve how police respond to high-risk scenarios.
