Senior Sergeant Col Henderson volunteered to help Tafe Queensland North apprentices deliver 35 platters of sandwiches in the lead up to the great race.
Tafe Queensland North chef and hospitality teacher Cath Hopgood said making the platters was part of the chefs’ apprenticeships.
“Thank you to all the local businesses that supported our apprentice chefs during one of the practical elements of their study by ordering our Melbourne Cup platters,” she said.
“We had so many deliveries to do that Senior Sergeant Col Henderson graciously assisted the girls deliver some platters. You couldn’t get safer food than that.”
Next year Tafe Queensland North will offer a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, running from February to July. Ms Hopgood said the course was aimed at people interested in a chef’s apprenticeship and those who wanted to learn the basics of cookery.
