Hopefully by being here we’ve encouraged them to participate in sport and show them how important sport is.
- Laura Geitz
The Queensland Firebirds teammates ran separate sessions for junior and teenage players and were kept busy by the enthusiastic participants.
Geitz, the Australian netball captain, said the clinics were about having fun.
“It’s more the experience for them more than what we can teach them,” she said.
“We can’t teach them a swag of skills in the time we’ve got, but it’s more that they’ve come along and have had a positive experience and enjoyed their hour.
“Hopefully by being here we’ve encouraged them to participate in sport and shown them how important sport is.”
Geitz said she and Aiken would have fond memories of the friendly welcome Mount Isa gave them.
“The hospitality has been outstanding,” she said.
“It’s such a great experience for Romelda and I to come up here. All the kids say, ‘It’s so nice for you to be here’, but we’ve loved coming up.”
