Pssst: Melbourne Victory W-League coach Dave Edmondson takes the cake

We've heard of coaches missing games due to suspension, injury and illness, but the reason behind Melbourne Victory W-League coach Dave Edmondson's absence later this season takes the cake. The wedding cake. Edmondson will miss a stint of games at the end of Victory's campaign – which thus far is yet to bring a single point – because he is getting married in New Zealand. It's not like Englishman Edmondson has sprung this on the club at the last minute though. His wedding plans were set before he took over at the club just before the season started. Victory have endured a difficult start to the season after the management of the team was thrust upon the organisation not long before the W-League kicked off in October. Previously the women's side had been run by Football Federation Victoria.
