Wright, 25, was cut by the Crows last month after 94 games at the club.

He had spent six years at Adelaide, taken from North Adelaide with pick 33 in the 2009 rookie draft. He was cut despite playing 16 games this year, having played at least that amount for five consecutive seasons.

Wright joins ex-Crows teammate Sam Kerridge, and Greater Western Sydney quartet Jed Lamb, Liam Sumner, Andrew Phillips and Lachie Plowman as new Blues, with all five moving to Ikon Park during the trade period.

The latest acquisition caps a major list overhaul at Carlton, who took Jacob Weitering, Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, David Cunningham and Jack Silvagni in Tuesday night's national draft.

Blues list manager Stephen Silvagni said the club was glad to have landed Wright.

"Matthew is an inside midfielder-forward with clean hands who's a good set shot and quick around the packs," Silvagni said on the club's website.

"Importantly, he's also a quality person who will bring experience and leadership to our team. With Matthew, our new draftees and the players we secured through the trade period, our list is taking shape.

"We believe we've got some terrific talent through the door and now we're looking forward to seeing our list grow and develop under coach Brendon Bolton."
