The recycling group’s area manager Mick Brady said it was good to receive the award because it recognised the work of employees.
This award was given to a business in recognition of the work it has done to help the environment and the community.
Mr Brady said SORT Recycling opened new sites in Cloncurry, Richmond and Hughenden within the year, collecting waste and transforming it into useful products.
He described the group as a not-for-profit social enterprise that aimed to increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill while at the same time creating jobs.
“The aim of the company is to transform the stuff you throw away into things you will want to keep forever.”
