Overlooked for the head job at the AFL Players Association Ian Prendergast has switched codes and been appointed as the new chief executive of the Rugby League Players Association.

Prendergast takes over from CEO David Gearnsey who quit after key players from all clubs passed a vote of no confidence in him in August this year.
Prendergast was disappointed not to be promoted to chief executive at the AFLPA after being acting chief executive for six months after Matt Finnis left to take over as chief executive at St Kilda.
Paul Marsh who was well regarded for his role in negotiating a set percentage of revenue for cricketers as head of the Australian Cricketers Association was appointed ahead of Prendergast.
Prendergast, a lawyer and former Carlton player, said he was pleased to remain in player associations regardless of the code switch.
"It's a cause I'm extremely passionate about, albeit this will be in a different sport with unique challenges and political pressures," he said.
Prendergast finishes with the AFLPA on Friday and begins with rugby league on Monday.
"Having been headhunted for this role by the RLPA, we congratulate Ian on this thoroughly deserved position. I have no doubt the player association movement in Australia will be strengthened by getting Ian into such an important role," Marsh said.
