William John Ellis,31, pleaded guilty to one charge of obstructing a police officer and one charge of public nuisance in court on Monday.
Ellis' second charge of assault or obstruct a police officer and one charge of unlawfully wounding another person were adjourned for two weeks.
Civilian prosecutor Mark Boreham told the court on September 3 at 1.40am police were called to a Miles Street address where men were fighting.
Mr Boreham said when police arrived they saw Ellis standing in the street near two overturned wheelie bins. He said Ellis admitted to pushing the bins over and said he'd been fighting with other men.
At 2.10am police were called back to the same address where they saw Ellis holding a metal crowbar, he said.
Mr Boreham told the court Ellis dropped the crowbar and said he'd "come outside to clean the mess". He said at 2.30am police were again called to the Miles Street property and saw Ellis swinging a mop around on the road and yelling.
Ellis yelled 'arrest me, come on, arrest me', Mr Boreham said. He said Ellis was arrested and told police he wanted to lock his house.
Mr Boreham said when police tried to look Ellis' back door he said 'the back door doesn't lock...you idiots'.
Legal Aid defence lawyer Mr Handley, for Ellis, said his client was a full-time chef.
"When he picked up the crow bar there was no evil intent involved. "He instructs me he picked it up to show police the weapon that was used against him."
Magistrate Richard Lehmann convicted Ellis and sentenced him to a nine-month probation order.
"There's no excuse for your behavior on that night," he said.
