Looking over the 2015 landscape from the perspective of the North West Star, the hills and valleys were clearly filled with change.
Since the start of the year, this community’s newspaper has taken on a new look and many staff changes were made as new ways of presenting local news across multiple platforms were embraced and developed.
News in Mount Isa is now reported with a focus on fresh digital content being available 24 hours a day on the North West Star news website.
Social media is also a strong driving force in news presentation.
These initiatives were designed and implemented to help make the local news more immediate and more accessible to readers.
The changes have been both positive and challenging as we negotiated our path through new ways of working and presenting the news.
What didn’t change in 2015, however, was this newspaper’s commitment to the community.
The North West Star is just as dedicated to Mount Isa and the North West as it has always been and we thank our readers for travelling with the newspaper on its journey of transformation in the digital era.
As is the custom at this time of year, hopes for the New Year are held and, as a community member, the newspaper is embracing its own.
Moving into the New Year, the aim is to continue serving Mount Isa with quality news content that readers can access in the way that best suits them.
The newspaper’s engagement with the community will continue as it always has.
Most of all, we look forward to telling the many stories Mount Isa and the North West will bring in 2016.
The North West Star office will be closed over the break and there will be no print editions during the Christmas and New Year period. The next print edition will be on Thursday, January 7.
True to the new approach the newspaper has taken this year, however, news will still be available on the newspapers’s website at www.northweststar.com.au
Management and staff wish each community member the very best for the festive season and year to come.
See you again in 2016.
