A MOUNT Isa man who was caught driving with used syringes and 0.362 grams of speed will pay $1100 in fines, the Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

Peter Damian Crisafulli,40, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property used for the purpose of committing a drug offence, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and contravening the direction of police.
Crisafulli's four further offences of assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed/in company and two charges of breaching an order, were adjourned.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rawnsley told the court on July 8 at 1am police intercepted Crisafulli driving on Abel Smith Parade.
Senior Constable Rawnsley said Crisafulli admitted to having syringes in the car and said he'd recently "used speed".
She said police found a clip seal bag containing 0.362 grams of white powder in his pocket, a set of electronic scales and two tourniquets.
Crisafulli had a two page criminal history, she sa id.Legal Aid defence lawyer Mr Handley, for Crisafulli, said his client had a job lined up as a prawn trawler in Townsville.
"He actually came to Mount Isa to get off drugs," he said. "He now wants a fresh start."
Magistrate Richard Lehmann fined Crisafulli $1100.
