The Detective Senior Sergeant held a press conference outside the Mount Isa Magistrates Court minutes after Magistrate Stephen Guttridge granted Boy Page bail on Monday.
“First of all the police and the courts can’t condone or accept that kind of behaviour,” Detective Senior Sergeant McBroom said.
“Whilst I do accept there is an emotive nature, police do not tolerate violence against people under any circumstances and we will not tolerate blatant acts of thuggery.
This is a very emotive matter and with respect to that we will need to respect the court and let the judicial process take its course."

Mr Page’s next court mention is February 8 although he is excused from appearing.
His bail conditions include a ban on alcohol, not being allowed on licenced premises, and not being allowed to contact the victim.
