Cuban-Australian judoka Hector Lombard (24-4-1-2, UFC 3-2-1nc) will return after a mandatory suspension of one year after testing positive to anabolic steroid desoxymethyltestosterone following his victory over Josh Burkman at UFC 182.
Lombard, who moved to Australia after competing in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, is undefeated at welterweight and was slated to face Rory McDonald in a title eliminator at UFC 186 prior to his suspension.
In a sign UFC officials have not lost faith in Lombard despite his suspension, in Brisbane he will take on highly touted prospect Neil Magny (17-4-1, 10-3 UFC).
Magny went on a seven-fight winning streak between 2014 and 2015 and last fought on November 21, where he defeated Kelvin Gastelum via decision over five rounds.
On paper, it is a tough fight for Lombard, with Magny enjoying a five inch height advantage and a nine-inch reach advantage.
Ranked ninth in the welterweight division, Magny is one of the few fighters in the UFC who knows how to use his height and reach effectively and he pushes a relentless pace, which may trouble Lombard, who tends to attack in bursts and does slow in the later rounds.
However Lombard only needs one clean shot to end a fight, and his considerable judo skills should give him a ground advantage over Magny in what is shaping up as an excellent co-main event.
Newcastle's James Te Huna will also return from a two-year layoff, taking on Canadian slugger Steve Bosse, a former ice hockey enforcer who briefly retired just after being signed to the UFC.
Te Huna will hold a significant experience edge over Bosse, and after two years off to repair multiple injuries he should be the heavy favourite.
Brisbane's Brendan O'Reilly, forced to pull out of UFC 193 due to a fractured orbital bone, will take on Alan Jouban, while Olympic judoka Dan Kelly will face TUF Brazil 3 winner Antonio Carlos Junior.
The fight card is not yet finalised, with at least five more fights yet to be announced by the UFC.
Tickets for the March 20 show, headlined by a five-round heavyweight clash between Mark Hunt and Frank Mir, go on sale for the general public on February 4 and are available through Ticketek.
