In Mount Isa the fun begins with a free Aussie breakfast and entertainment at 7am on the Civic Centre lawns.
That will be followed by the official Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony at 9am inside the Civic Centre Auditorium.
There will be seven categories awarded on the day, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Sports Award, Junior Sports Award, Community Event of the Year, Art and Culture Award, and the Mount Isa Legend Award.
The citizenship ceremony will see more than 20 Mount Isa residents from all corners of the globe become Australian citizens.
Mount Isa also welcomes the 2016 Australia Day ambassador, John Lazarou, a Director of the Coffee Club Group.
Over in Cloncurry there is also an annual presentation of Australia Day Awards and a Citizenship Ceremony.
Their Australia Day ambassador is bowler Brett Wilkie.
Gather at the Cloncurry Community Precinct at 8.30am for a 9am start.
There is a free barbecue brunch following the ceremony.
Later in the day there is social bowls at the Bowls Club from 11am and a dive-in movie at the Pool from 6pm.
Camooweal has its own fun and games with the highlight being a ride-on mower race outside the Post Office Hotel.
There is also backyard cricket and event nominations start at noon with the first race at 12.30pm.
Down in Boulia the Australia Day awards kick off at the Shire Hall at 9am while Carpentaria there are two events.
There is a community breakfast at the Karumba Recreation Club from 8-9am followed by the awards at 9-10am with lots of fun family activities to follow.
In Normanton there is a community barbecue lunch from 11am-noon followed by the awards ceremony noon to 1pm. There is free entry to the Normanton PCYC Pool from 1-6pm and a free sausage sizzle at 3pm.
The Carpentaria Australia Day ambassador is inspirational speaker John Coutis.
Over in Burketown there is the annual cricket match starting 8am at the Burketown tennis court.
There is a barbecue lunch at 1pm followed by the awards ceremony at 1.40pm with fun games for the kids from 2-4pm.
Julia Creek’s CSA Building hosts McKinlay’s celebration from 6pm with an awards ceremony, free dinner, a bar and fireworks.
