“I know there’s an exchange program for students with different countries, what the hell is going on there?” Mr Lazarou said while drinking a flat white at the Mount Isa Coffee Club.
“We should have an exchange program where students experience city to outback, and outback to the city, what’s what we should be doing.
“I’m a true believer of that. If anyone wants to help me achieve that I’ll jump on board.”
Mr Lazarou has been an Australia Day ambassador for remote Queensland communities for eight years including Barcaldine, Birdsville and Winton.
But the Brisbane based director did not see himself as an Australia Day ambassador exactly. “I regard myself as an outback ambassador because every time I go back to the city to Brisbane my reports of the places I have seen, the places that I have been to, the experiences that I have had and the people that I have met in these towns is amazing,” Mr Lazarou said.
