The South Sydney skipper has been linked to a move to Brisbane despite being contracted to the Rabbitohs until the end of 2017. While Inglis re-affirmed his commitment to honouring his contract, he would asses his long-term future at the end of this season. He also downplayed the chances of a cross-code switch.

"I'll probably come to my decision at the end of this year, instead of dragging on for another year," Inglis said. "I've still got two years left. I don't want to be making the club uneasy of where I'm going to be at the following year. I'd like to put that all to rest, but we've just got to wait and see, you'll never know what this year's going to bring.

"Moving forward rugby league at Souths is the only thing on my mind at the moment. I've got two years and I want to honour that two years. In terms of negotiation, we'll have to wait and see beyond that."

With the Australian Kangaroos calendar cleared for the first time since 2012, Inglis has enjoyed some time away from the field. He said he was feeling "fresh" after finishing last year with an ongoing knee problem.

"It took two weeks to actually get back into really good shape and I've had good sports management around the club, which has kept a close eye on everyone, not just myself but everyone at the club," Inglis said. "I'm really looking forward to the season ahead. We've got good, young, enthusiastic kids that really want to succeed this year. You can see the determination in their eyes at training. Just seeing them around makes me happy and makes me feel young because they're so eager to learn."

Inglis met his "twin" for the first time on Tuesday as he became the first rugby league player to have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds. He joined the likes of Cathy Freeman, Don Bradman and Lleyton Hewitt in the sporting section. Inglis stood in his pose for an hour while another four were spent perfecting his look. The wax includes his now ever-present knee strapping and match-worn boots.

"I was pretty calm and then I woke up on [Tuesday] morning and realised what a big deal it was," Inglis said. "I get to be here for a very long time. Even when I leave this earth I'll be immortalised in wax."
