The Lumen Christi Centre at the Good Shepherd college was packed solid on Sunday.
Doors opened at 9am and from then until noon, locals poured through the door in big numbers to check the range of almost 40 sports, clubs and organisations on offer.
All of the major football codes were there, offering patrons the chance to sign up to rugby league, Australian rules and soccer as they get ready to start their winter seasons.
There were also some of the lesser known codes as well as clubs and individual pursuits offering people a huge variety of things to get involved in, in 2016.
Council’s chair of Sport and Beautification Cr Kim Coghlan was delighted with the turnout on the day.
“We almost cracked the 40, we had 39 different organisations in the end having their sign-on here,” Cr Coghlan.
“They are all really spread out but more people have gone through today than last year.
“I know that I’ve gone round and spoken to nearly all the organisations and they’ve all had a really good go.
“Like I always say, you may not get them today, but they’ll remember you down the track.”
Cr Coghlan said the day offered the chance for the sporting organisations to get together too.
“A few of the organisations offer funding opportunities for other sports,” she said.
“I think it has been an excellent day.”
Now in its third year, the free community event provides a one-stop shop for children and adults to sign-up to different sports, register to volunteer or find out what events are coming up.
Mayor Tony McGrady said the Expo was all about encouraging healthy lifestyles and active participation.
You may not get them today, but they’ll remember you down the track.

“Everyone is different in their sporting tastes and preferences, and this Expo is a way to get all your information across a wide range of sports,” Cr McGrady said.
As well as getting information, the large crowd was entertained by a selection of Mount Isa Irish dancers.
