Lewis Scott Marvin Bambrick, 23, pleaded guilty to eight charges in the magistrate’s court on Monday, February 1, including failing to stop for police and at a stop sign.
On another occasion in Camooweal Street he was found with a machete in the car he was driving which had a 40 centimetre long blade.
Magistrate Stephen Guttridge fined him another $2000 in total for the other charges and ordered his licence suspended four years and six months.
On January 11 Bambrick drove a Toyota Landcruiser through the Supercheap Auto carpark in Trainor and Ivy Streets.
Police chased him because the car matched the description of a stolen vehicle, the court heard.
He refused to pause at the stop sign when turning east in Marian Street.
Police chased Bambrick for two kilometres on the Barkly Highway. They gave up but managed to get his details. Bambrick’s other charges included failing a domestic violence order, wilful damage, drink driving and having used drug items.
