An announcement this week brings the two trusted, reliable, strong-performing teams together through shared values, a commitment to good governance and a unique understanding of the needs of local communities.
LGIAsuper chair, Bronwyn Morris, acknowledged LGIAsuper operates in an increasingly competitive environment where retention and growth are vital to a fund’s success.
“More than half our members no longer work for local government but choose to stay with the fund they know and trust when they change jobs or leave employment,” Ms Morris said.
For more than 50 years the fund has proudly shared a special partnership with hardworking Queenslanders who are dedicated to building strong, resilient communities across the state.
“We’re fortunate to have three great NRL teams here in Queensland and partnering with a community institution like the Cowboys is a way for us to acknowledge the pride we have in our state.”
To complement the partnership LGIAsuper has selected Townsville-born and raised Michael Morgan as its Player Ambassador.
CEO, David Todd, said Michael’s continued growth, solid on and off-field performance and ongoing commitment to the Cowboys embodies everything LGIAsuper aims to achieve for its members.
“His dedication to the local community and involvement with charitable organisations also make him the perfect ambassador for LGIAsuper as we broaden our community connections,” Mr Todd said.
The young NRL player is also looking forward to broadening his involvement in community programs.
A key benefit of the partnership is the LGIAsuper Community Hub held at each home game in Townsville. This initiative will give the fund a chance to further connect with local communities by helping different charities raise awareness.
“We’ve helped members achieve their financial goals since 1965. Extending a helping hand to not-for-profit organisations, so they too can reach theirs, is the natural and logical next step for the fund,” Mr Todd said.
“We’re also set to soon announce a program designed to improve the day-to-day lives of Indigenous youth, which will benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland.”
Supporting a team so many people are passionate about is a cost-effective way for LGIAsuper to engage with current members wherever they work or live.
