Paul Spinks motivated so many employees at Stanwell’s Mica Creek Power Station with his perspective on individual health and well-being that power workers asked if their family and friends could also hear his message.

Now Mica Creek Power Station is bringing Paul Spinks, an Advanced Care Paramedic and State Trauma Counsellor, back to give a free talk in Mount Isa.
Paul says the fact that 82 per cent of us will have a chronic illness by age 65 and 68 per cent of us will be flat broke is a wakeup call to take our lives off remote control.
“Our people who attended Paul Spinks’ talk were very impressed by him and wanted him back to share his health message with their families and friends,” Mica Creek Site Manager Paul Smith said.
“Few people talk about health like Paul Spinks does and we are very pleased to give the Mount Isa community access to his experience and advice,” Paul Smith said.
Stanwell has already provided free community sessions in Tully, Cairns and Rockhampton with an overwhelmingly positive response.
“Paul Spinks’ talk is not only thought provoking but it offers the kind of practical advice that can be implemented the moment you walk out of the session” said Stanwell’s Health, Safety and Environment General Manager Trevor Hooper.
“As a result of Paul Spinks’ talk we have received feedback from our people that they are making better choices regarding their health and we are looking forward to sharing this experience with the wider community,” said Trevor.
Health messages that Paul talks about are: mental health, drugs, cardiac disease and lifestyle disease - with raw stories taken from the back of an ambulance.
He will also talk about the importance of knowing more about our own bodies and what’s killing our nation, and how to stop the rot.
He is speaking on Wednesday February 17, 5.30pm-7.30pm at Mount Isa Civic Centre
