THE theme was Bond, James Bond, and there were 007 references everywhere as the annual Ronald McDonald House North Queensland Charity Ball came to Mount Isa on Saturday.

About 340 people were licenced to thrill at the Civic Centre, entertained by the swinging sounds of big band, Bandana.
Committee member Kate Brewster said the occasion was a celebration of the incredible work of Ronald McDonald House and she was proud that north west Queensland was doing their bit to help.
She said each year hundreds of local families used the facilities of Ronald McDonald House in Townsville and other locations.
“While at the house they are provided with accommodation and food but to continue to offer this support we need your help,” Ms Brewster said.
“Thank you to all our amazing sponsors, generous local businesses and our marvellous band of volunteers. “Events like ours simply wouldn't be possible without your support.
Ronald McDonald House North Queensland relationships and development manager Brad Hastewell also thanked the ball committee for their work in putting the ball together.
Mr Hastewell said the Townsville base was augmented with regional hubs in Cairns, Mount Isa and Mackay.
“We supported up to 400 families last year,” Mr Hastewell said.
“Mount Isa has around 21,000 people, according to Wikipedia, and on average we help around 70 families from this region.”
Attendees at the ball had the chance to further help out by digging deep for fabulous items in the silent auction.
