On Sunday, February 7, the Mount Isa Dirt Bike Club got into gear and held their sign on.
The day was also their first practice day of the year.
Jubilee Park was buzzing with the sound of motorcycle engines.
Club officials said there was a record turnout down at the track.
“We had plenty of new faces including riders from Boulia which helped make the day a success,” the club said.
“There was a great age range represented from four years to 60 year olds.”
The club said their officials provided a great atmosphere for all riders and spectators alike.
For the hungry ones, there was bacon and egg burgers available for breakfast and a barbecue lunch keeping everyone well fed throughout the sign-on day.
The club thanked the McGregor family for organising the food.
The club would also like to thank a number of key sponsors.
These include Hastings Deering, Kane Sland and Downright Carpentry for lending the club machinery to complete track maintenance.
“As well, we’d like to thank all the volunteers that sacrificed part of their weekend to help get the track ready on Saturday, the day before,” the club said.
The club will be holding regular practice days and race events throughout the year, with a race calendar being finalised in the next few weeks.
