One of Mount Isa’s oldest motels has now ceased trade after Pilot Partners Chartered Accountants assessed the business.
Pilot Partners Chartered Accountants said: “On February 16, 2016 the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (BankWest), appointed Ann Fordyce and Nigel Robert Markey of this office as joint and several Receivers and Managers of the assets and undertaking of Charlton Holdings (QLD) Pty Ltd and Wilani Pty Ltd, in their own capacity and as trustees.
“Following our appointment, we continued to operate with the assistance of the companies’ director while an assessment of the business was undertaken. A decision was made late last week to cease trade. We are in the process of appointing an agent to take the Motel to market as soon as possible.”
The family friendly, three and a half star, 55 room motel had operated since the mid-1960s. The former owner described its recent closure as "the end of an era".
