It's been alleged that there was a breach of the cap rules in an effort to muster $35,000 to assist his father who has a  lung condition.

Here are the facts. Radradra's manager George Christodoulou did ask football manager Daniel Anderson about a possible $35,000 third-party agreement  for Semi due to his father's illness back in Fiji.  The purpose was to allow Semi to move his dad  back to the mainland and purchase a house where the  family could live together while he was being treated.

The TPA was requested by Christodoulou because Semi was on  a basic contract in 2014.  He was about to sign a more lucrative deal from 2015 onwards that would upgrade his standing  significantly.

At the time  Anderson told Christodoulou the  TPA wasn't the right way to handle the problem, but the Eels could work through a solution under the NRL's rules that would allow the club to pay some contract money from his new agreement in 2015 (under an approved cap exemption) upfront in 2014 so that he could move the family immediately.

The process wasn't an easy one despite the medical reasons.  Among the documents and letters that were required  were statutory declarations from Radradra, his family and the club. The whole process took nearly three months.

It was an example of the league, club and player agent working together to find a common-sense solution rather than a crafty rort.

It appears that whoever decided to plant the email to make Parramatta and Radradra look bad selectively excluded all the other correspondence. And here is an interesting fact. The first email request was sent from Christodoulou,  Anderson and Scott Seward. That email was forwarded on to coach Brad Arthur so he knew what was going on with his star player. From that point all the email correspondence took place between Seward, Anderson and the NRL.

As for Semi's dad – he is on the main island in Fiji and in a better home as he continues to live with his condition.

Gallen in waiting

Paul Gallen is the most influential and talked about player in NSW – but he is yet to cop a phone call from Mal Meninga despite the Maroons legend being Australian coach for four months.

With the Test match against New Zealand set to be played in a month, Gallen hasn't heard from Meninga, despite Big Mal telling this column that he was going to call him as a matter of importance. It was a topic of interest principally because Gallen is everything that is Blues as Meninga was everything that is Queensland.

There is  paranoia from the Blues that the Australian  team will be a spin-off from the Queensland team. To some extent it has to be based on the great Queensland side but someone like Gallen, given that he has played 31 Tests and is Blues skipper, is entitled to a call.

"No, Mal hasn't called me," said Gallen. "I saw where he said he was going to when he got the job, but I don't think he has to. I think by me saying that I'm available to play for the Blues he knows I'd love to play for Australia again. I've missed the last couple of opportunities through injury and the ASADA suspension and now I'd love to get a final chance to play for my country. I get the whole NSW thing, but I'm sure that's not an issue for him – he's the Australian coach."

Gallen returned from injury last week against the Tigers and was the best forward on the field. His inspirational charges and the way he willed himself across the line was what coach Shane Flanagan was longing for.

Sonny Bill on air

Sonny Bill Williams is in demand from the world's media.  CNN have been trying for months to nail down an interview with him and they finally caught up with him in Hong Kong.

Williams, who doesn't grant many chats, last month talked to the BBC. It's an amazing journey from the days when he would do anything to avoid the microphones and cameras when he was a young Bulldog.

Despite having strong opinions he was too timid and young to express them.

Goodes off to LA

 Adam Goodes turned down a farewell at the MCG with other retiring legends last year and it was decided the best game to pay tribute to him was last night's clash with GWS.

The chance of Collingwood fans giving Goodes a razz were greater. With the celebration of his career out of the way Goodes can enjoy himself and he's doing it in a grand way.

He's flying to Los Angeles to be with his mate and San Antonio Spurs star Patty Mills. Goodes is going to observe the life that his mate lives and he'll be happy to be part of the entourage rather than be the main star. 

Cartwright sells

Bryce Cartwright's star is on the rise in so many ways  and it's starting to reflect in off-field interest. Mercure Hotels are using him as a face of their property in Penrith and he is also being used to promote the entire area in a spin-off to the hotel deal. Cartwright is being pushed hard in every area to be part of the Blues team.

New face at Nine

The Nine newsroom has produced some of the finest female reporters and presenters in recent years and there is another one on the way: recruit Julie Snook.

Roz Kelly, Erin Molan and Yvonne Sampson have all moved into starring  network roles after rising to prominence while on the sports beat.

Kelly is the front person of Ten's Big Bash League coverage, Molan is a Footy Show host and Sampson presents the news and is the face of Nine's football coverage.

Snook has a decade of news reporting and presenting behind her and will be joining Ken Sutcliffe's sports team, which includes young reporter Danika Mason as an on-the-road journalist. 

Burgess to Fox

We told you several weeks ago Sam Burgess was being offered to networks and that he wanted a media career that didn't necessarily focus on rugby league. Burgess decided to go with Foxtel and Fox Sports.

One of their heaviest hitters, Brian Walsh, played a key role in his signing. Burgess appears to be angling towards lifestyle programs but there is talk of future involvement with Olympics and even rugby union coverage.  He is a dual international after all.

His wife Phoebe has been making regular appearances on Today and Today Extra.

The benefits of  Des Hasler's  cameras at Belmore know no bounds.   It turns out Hasler had his cameras, set up to capture every move at training, running during Monday night's game and it was a grainy shot from one of his cameras that nabbed a shot for the police.

Klemmer is a softie at heart

Dave Klemmer was splashed all over the media for the referee-touching incident but hasn't received the recognition he deserves for a touching moment he shared with Chase Stanley during Monday night's loss to the Raiders.

Klemmer's awkward but caring cuddle with a distraught Stanley is the best reflection of who he is.

"He's just a family man ... that's what matters to him," said coach Des Hasler.

Klemmer's teammates are distressed at how he has been portrayed: "He has made a real effort to keep his game clean and to be down at the judiciary was very stressful because he is trying to change," said James Graham.

A big part of it is regular appointments with a sports psychologist.

"I've never been as a happy or calm on the field," he said. "The secret is to understand that it's just a game. I've got to remind myself of that. I need to make the most of what I have. I've got a family to take care of."

For the last few years they, in particular his fiancee Chloe, have taken care of him. He lives with her family.

"She has been my rock, and to go home to her, my kids and family, it makes everything worthwhile." The club were quick to tell me about the Wiggles concert he went to after a recent game.

"Yeah that's true," he said. "You know it's easy to go out and have beers with the boys, and there is a time for that. But that means missing out on what the kids are doing and family are doing and that's what matters."

It's wrong on many levels to say that Klemmer is a changed man, because we haven't really seen what kind of person he is. And it would be wrong to say he won't end up in another drama. But he is trying his hardest to be the best he can be.
