A 37-year-old-man was airlifted from McKinlay's Colwell Station to Mount Isa after severely injuring himself in a quad bike accident on April 9. The man was mustering cattle without a helmet when he fell off and injured himself. He sustained an injury to his right shoulder, suffered suspected neck and spinal injuries, as well as suspected abdominal injuries.

It is believed that the man was not wearing a helmet while working on the property and had previously been seriously injured in a similar accident.
The Mount Isa RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to fly to the property and transported the patient to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
