Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson got his wish two weeks ago by shifting Folau, who has played all his rugby at fullback, to No.13 – a decision that has divided opinion among observers for weeks.

Folau's performances in the last two weeks against the Brumbies and Western Force would suggest the move has been a success.

The 27-year-old agrees, saying that although he still has plenty to learn he is pleased with how he has been able to inject himself into the front line more in the previous fortnight.

"I've been happy with the way things are going, but never content ... I always want to try and keep improving each week," Folau said. "I'm still learning and trying to learn all the detailed stuff about playing 13, but at the moment I'm enjoying the challenge and it's been great. For me personally, it's very satisfying."

The main reason for Folau's switch was to give the electric rugby league convert as much ball as possible, something Gibson believes has happened as a result.

"I definitely feel like I've got a lot more pill over the last couple of weeks playing at 13 and I'm a little bit closer to the action where I'm getting the ball earlier and I can weigh up my options with what I want to do," Folau said.

"It's been something I'm really happy with and I've spoken to Daryl in the past about trying to get myself into the game a bit more. I'm still learning as we go, but I can only get comfortable playing 13 by getting more game time, so it's something that I look forward to taking in."

Folau's move to the centres has raised questions about whether he will also make the switch for Australia's three-Test series with England in June.

Asked whether he had spoken to Wallabies coach Michael Cheika about where he would line up against England, Folau said hadn't heard anything, before adding: "I'm trying to make sure I can play the best rugby I can at this level before even looking at anything with the Wallabies. It's out of my control and we'll see what happens."

Folau said he felt "honoured" to break Lote Tuqiri's NSW all-time try-scoring record against the Western Force on Saturday, but made it clear the achievement was the last thing on his mind as he prepares to lift his side to an unlikely victory over South African conference leaders the Stormers in Cape Town.

"That [record] is irrelevant with what's going on," Folau said. "It's great to have that, but my mindset is all about the team and going forward in the season. I enjoyed that game last week crossing over for that try, but it's always been about the team and I put my focus on the Stormers this weekend. As a playing group I think the mindset will be how it was last week. They've got some really dangerous players out in the back field so we want to make sure all the boxes are ticked.

"I don't think it's do-or-die. It's definitely not time to panic or anything like that. I think for us it's a bit of a cliche but taking it one week at a time is pretty important for us. We can't afford to look ahead of where we are now and the Stormers is the most important game for us. We've got to keep ticking away and for us we can't afford to look at what other teams are doing. We've got to focus on ourselves."
