The Abacus Motel is planning a Family Fun day in honour of the group, with pool side live music, a seafood buffet and activities for the whole family.
“I am so looking forward to performing at the Abacus Motel. This is the perfect atmosphere to share my music, and Runi and Rob are fantastic hosts,” Gray said.
Melanie’s tour will showcase her Modern-Australiana originals featured on her debut EP, as well as yet-to-be released originals, all co-written by Gina Jeffreys and Max Jackson.
“Writing with Gina and Max was a truly humbling experience. It was an honour to engage with all the expression and charisma they brought to my stories and together we were able to write 14 songs that I’m in love with...I absolutely cannot wait to take them on tour and connect with my fans, celebrating a truly great country that is Australia,” Gray said.
Melanie has also recently returned from Alice Springs where she met with country music great, Warren H Williams for another song-writing session.
“I first met Warren when I was an entrant in a talent competition at Adelaide River when I was about 16. He and his family musicians were the support band for the competition and it’s an honour that I still get to call him my friend to this day.
“He’s real, and he’s Australian. His music keeps me grounded and inspires me to stay true to myself in my writing. His storytelling always connects him with audiences on a deeper level which is a quality I hope to bring to mine.
“We’ve also got a new song which we are working on, bringing both our styles together, so watch this space.” Gray said.
As a new face to the Country Music touring scene, Melanie Gray brings with her many accolades.
The 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival saw her perform at the Country Under the Vines Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House in a line up with esteemed artists Adam Harvey and Lyn Bowtell. Melanie and Dirty Jeans also received the Aristocrats Entertainer of the Year’s Nathanial O’Brien Award, third place in the Coca-Cola Battle of the Bands, was a CCMA Song-writing Finalist, and the CCMA Group Section Runner-up.
Melanie’s Debut EP which was produced by Rod McCormack and co-written by Gina Jeffreys and Max Jackson was released in January earlier this year and is available at all online music retailers.
