Newly elected councillor Mick Tully was away on holidays when the new council met for the first time and the other six councillors were sworn in.
He was back for the second meeting and was sworn into office by Mount Isa City Council CEO Emilio Cianetti.
Cr Tully was one of the three new Team Coghlan councillors elected along with Cr Paul Stretton and Cr Peta MacRae.
They join new mayor Joyce McCulloch and three members of her team in council: Deputy Mayor Phil Barwick and two re-elected councillors Cr George Fortune and Cr Jean Ferris.
Last week’s meeting also allocated the councillor portfolios.
Deputy Mayor Phil Barwick will take on the key finance and adminstration portfolio.
Cr Mick Tully will have responsibility for Works and Camooweal.
Cr Paul Stretton has been awarded environmental management.
Meanwhile Cr Peta MacRae gets community development, sport and recreation, and youth.
Cr George Fortune gets development and land use while Cr Jean Ferris gets beautification, parks/gardens and library.
The meeting also attempted to put names to council representation to external organisations with Cr George Fortune nominated for the Mount Isa Water Board.
However Cr Tully indicated that he too was interested in water issues and wanted to have that representation.
In the end the matter of representation was sent back to a workshop with a decision to be made in the next council meeting.
Other representations to be allocated include the Living with Lead Alliance, MITEZ, NW Outback Queensland Tourism Authority, North Queensland Sports Foundation, Local Authority Waste Management Advisory Team, Laura Johnson Home Board, Community Safety Round Table, RADF, NW Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils and the Local Disaster Management Group.
