The MIRL, however, has named its team list for the Mountt Isa under 18's representative squad for 2016.
It is: Schakarne Aitkens, Kye Aplin, Kitchener Armstrong-Reilly, Isaiah Bell, Hunter Chong, Royston Connolly, Gavin Crisp, Dwight Daley, Juniah Dotoi, Mahanna Ellison, Bradman Geordie, Jekope Kauvere, Jason Knight, Jeremy Murphy, Stefan O'Keefe, Michael Pengelly, Cooper Roll and Phillip Roos.
Mount Isa Men’s senior soccer also has weekend off with games resuming next weekend.
However the soccer representative side the North West Dragons are holding a raffle to be drawn on June 1.
The winners will receive one of two signed and framed North Queensland Cowboys jerseys.
Tickets can be purchased at Mount Isa Produce and at the soccer grounds on Saturday mornings.
Meanwhile AFL is back for Round 2 after a two week layoff.
Tigers play Rovers in the early game at 12.30pm then at 2.45pm the Lake Nash Young Guns take on Buffs.
Racing returns this weekend with a six-race meet at Gregory Downs on Saturday.
First race is at 1.15pm with the final race at 5pm.
The big race is race 5, the Burke Shire Open Cup with a field of five runners expected.
A big crowd should be there especially as the racing coincides with the annual Gregory Canoe Classic which takes place on the Gregory River starting 8am Sunday.
The Gregory Canoe Classic is the North West Canoe Club’s big race for the year, with paddlers required to complete 43 kilometres in one day, along deep water holes separated by sets of rapids and fast flowing bends, starting at the Knobbies and finishing at the bridge.
This is the 41st running of the event.
In two-wheeled sporting news, the Fountain Springs MTB Classic is not far away.
The 61km event is on May 31 and starts at the Fountain Springs rest area on the Barkly Hwy halfway between Mount Isa and Cloncurry.
You can enter as a team or individuals and there will be camping that night with the Mount Isa Folk Club holding a “shack night”.

Mount Isa touch football is looking for players to compete in the North Queensland Open and Senior Championships.
Teams are required to compete in open men’s, open women’s, women’s 27, men’s 27, men’s 45 and men’s 50 sections.
The competition is on at Townsville on the weekend of June 18-19.
Next training day is Wednesday, May 4 at 5pm.
