A pair of early draft picks are both set to miss Collingwood's clash with West Coast in Perth on Sunday, but for different reasons.

Important midfielder Taylor Adams was on Friday withdrawn from the Magpies' 25-man squad for the match, while off-season recruit James Aish has been dropped.

Adams was replaced in the squad by untested onballer Tom Phillips, who was ultimately named as an emergency. Collingwood had already lost Travis Varcoe (hamstring), although Ben Sinclair and Tom Langdon were both included in the 22 after missing last Monday's win over Essendon with concussion and soreness respectively. Tim Broomhead has also been recalled.

Aish has averaged less than 14 disposals in four senior games since being traded from the Brisbane Lions in October.  Coach Nathan Buckley said on Friday that the club will take 23 or 24 players across for the clash.

The Eagles have made a single change, with Scott Lycett back from suspension, named at the expense of Fraser McInnes.

Carlton have made two changes to the team that beat Fremantle last weekend, with Dennis Armfield and Nick Graham brought back to face Essendon at the MCG on Sunday. Making way are Charlie Curnow (illness) and Dylan Buckley (calf).

The Bombers have named former Lion James Polkinghorne for his debut in red and black, included alongside Jonathan Simpkin and Ryan Crowley. Craig Bird is out with a quad issue, while Conor McKenna and Martin Gleeson have been axed.

The Lions have made three changes ahead of their clash with Sydney on Sunday at the Gabba. Sam Mayes and Daniel McStay return, joining debutant Ben Keays as inclusions. No. 2 draft pick Josh Schache has been rested while Josh Green misses through soreness, and Tom Cutler is out with a shoulder concern.

The Swans have made just a single alteration, with Aliir Aliir set to make his debut as a replacement for Ted Richards, who suffered a cheekbone injury against the Eagles last weekend.
