The $1000 prize money from a Mount Isa Army Cadets raffle will go towards improving local tourism, the raffle winner declared when he received his prize.

The winner, Leichhardt Accommodation owner Glen Ashmore, said he wanted the reinstatement of the Mount Isa Tourism Association.
“A lot of businesses are getting together to reactive that.
“The time is right for tourism.
“Every effort is being made to make Mount Isa the tourism centre for the area,” he said.
The Mount Isa Army Cadets ran the raffle leading up to Anzac Day.
Janette Pilz, from the 143 Army Cadet Unit, said the cadets raised about $1300 from the raffle.
The money raised would be used to help transport the cadets to various events they attend.
“It’s to help with transport costs...we are finding it quite expensive to move cadets around,” she said.
Cadets attended training in Cloncurry in the lead-up to Anzac Day. The travel required a chartered bus.
