Rovers’ coach Rick Bailey described the second game of the season as a “tough encounter”.
“We knew it was going to be.
“But they played it out until the end and that’s been the key. We trained hard, and fitness has probably been the key.
“We’ve done the hard yards and it’s paid off.”
Bailey congratulated the defenders on their “reliable” efforts during the game. “They had the ability to turn it over and bring it back.”
He was mindful of the game against Lake Nash next week. The “Nashies” had a rest at the weekend when the Buffs forfeited.
“As much as a win’s good it’s going to be tough next week as well,” Bailey said.
Tigers’ coach Jarryd Harrison said the boys played well but there were a few “silly little decisions” made under pressure.
But new players such as Kelvin Ross, who ran in the wing, stood out.
