And even though former chief executive Michael Jones finished up on Monday, Larkham thinks the off-field drama still isn't behind the Brumbies and there's still a "lot of work to be done".

The Brumbies have lost three of their last four games and face the Bulls, who are third in the South African group, at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.

Their run of outs has seen them drop from the top of the Australian conference, with the Melbourne Rebels taking their place, and out of the play-off places.

Moore didn't travel with the Brumbies to Invercargill to play the Otago Highlanders on the weekend because of bleeding in his calf, but he trained on Monday and will return to the side to face the Bulls.

Veteran prop Ben Alexander will also come back after he was "rotated out" of the Highlanders loss, while lock Blake Enever is available after falling ill on game day.

Larkham said it would also be good to have Moore's leadership back.

"He's the Wallaby captain, he's been our captain this year and he's in career-best form," he said.

"That alone talks for itself. He's been great around the boys and just his performance this year, I think he's been the best in the world."

Following their tough clash against the Bulls, the Brumbies then face a crucial game against the Rebels, which could go a long way to deciding who finishes top of the Aussie conference.

They also have the NSW Waratahs breathing down their necks, level on 21 points and with a game in hand.

But Larkham said their predicament wasn't at the point where they had to win every game to make the finals.

"It's probably not quite that bad because of the way the draw works, but yes it's getting down to that," Larkham said.

"Like we've said all year, we've got a game to win this weekend and we felt that our performance and preparation last week was spot on.

"The effort and attitude was spot on in the game, we just need to keep backing that up and the results will come our way."

While they've been struggling on the field, the Brumbies' off-field dramas have been arguably worse.

Jones left the club at the close of business on Monday after reaching a settlement with the board.

He had taken the club to court after they stood him down following an explosive interview on ABC Grandstand.

Even though Jones had left, Larkham didn't think the drama was behind the club.

"No, no, certainly not. There's a lot of work to be done, isn't there," he said.

While the Brumbies went down 23-10 to the Highlanders, Larkham said they'd taken some steps with their attacking game and was happy with the numbers they posted.

He just felt the wet conditions in Invercargill weren't conducive to their style of attacking rugby.

"In terms of attack there were some extraordinary stats on the weekend - percentage of possession (73 per cent), number of hit ups (159), number of metres with the ball (289)," Larkham said.

"It was one of our best games in terms of our attack, but conditions didn't really call for that. It was pleasing to see that we were able to play the way we wanted to play even though it was wet."
