The annual fete will include plenty of fun stuff for everyone from tiny tots to the young at heart.
St Kieran’s Catholic Primary School principal Matt Tyrie said the fete was open to all.
“It’s a fete for everyone. We call it the St Kieran’s Fete, but really it’s a fete for the whole community,” Mr Tyrie said.
Organiser Mell Anderson said there were rides, games, and prizes to be won throughout the evening.
“We have raffles, lot of raffles. There’s one that kids have been taking home and selling with their families and friends,” Ms Anderson said.
“There will [also] be a lucky door prize, and the first prize is $500.”
Ms Anderson said the last raffle featured prizes that were too big for the fete’s cent sale.
“First prize is five cubic metres of concrete, plus the labour to lay it,” she said.
“And for jumping castles we have five inflatables, so there will be slippery dips, there’ll be the ladder challenge, and there’s a jumping castle also allocated just for the little kids, which will keep them nice and safe.”
The fete will boast cake stalls, edible art competitions, and plenty of delicious delicacies on the night.
“We’re guaranteed to have the best international food you’ll find in Mount Isa this Friday,” Matt
In keeping with St Kieran’s tradition, the Mother’s Day Fete will also feature a scary house.
“The kids love it, it’s very popular,” Ms Anderson said.
“The kids will line up at one part of the building and walk through to the end, and it’s pitch black with all of the scary stuff, and they come out screaming, then they run around to the other side to go again.”
Ms Anderson said the evening will go out with a bang for the thousands of visitors expected.
“By about 8.30pm or 9pm everything is sold out and we have fireworks then,” she said.
The St Kieran’s Mother’s Day Fete is on at the school this Friday at from 6pm to 9pm.
Entry to the fete is free.
